- The White House nominates tech leaders for its AI advisory policy, including names like Jensen Huang, Mark Zuckerberg, and Larry Ellison, among others. OpenAI’s Sam Altman didn’t make it to the list.
- OpenAI helped the Pentagon access its LLM technology without any guardrails, a fact that Anthropic denied when it partnered with the US Department of Defence (Pentagon).
- The result of this move was massive criticism by the public, leading to mass uninstalls of ChatGPT, OpenAI’s LLM chatbot.
- Despite all these, Sam Altman, co-founder of OpenAI, was not invited to the committee of advisors.

Surprisingly, Sam Altman, who was previously considered a Trump favorite, has not been named on the list.
Last month, Sam made a critical multi-million-dollar deal with the US Department of Defence (Pentagon) after Anthropic backed out of a controversial demand that, according to the latter, included assistance with mass surveillance.
This move by Sam Altman and OpenAI was widely criticized, with people logging out of its popular LLM tool, ChatGPT. TechCrunch reported a 295% surge in uninstallations after the Department of Defence deal.

Open AI’s Controversial Deal with Pentagon
The Pentagon reportedly asked Anthropic to share access to Claude AI’s guardrails, a safety feature that prevents unlimited AI access by bypassing morality, ethics, and sometimes even the law. This is the same technology that prevents a person from harming themselves with AI-based information if they try to.
As a result, Anthropic, the creator of Claude AI, withdrew from the deal, and the US government subsequently declared it a company with supply-chain risk, a major degradation that disables it from future government contracts.
At the same time, Sam Altman of OpenAI closed a deal with the Pentagon (DoD) allowing it access to its technology without any guardrails.
